LEARN TOGETHER: Our audience from last year's Women in Leadership discussion had many questions for our panelists |
We've found in the past that sharing stories with like-minded attendees can motivate and inspire students to achieve their business goals. This year's discussion will be on April 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in rooms 51 and 52, and is sponsored by TD Bank. We're delighted to have an array of panelists from different industries, including business, non-profit, and education. They are:
- Beatrice Romao, Retail Market Manager, TD Bank
- Tina Simmons Waters, Senior Vice President Human Performance, Comcast
- Jill Michal, President and CEO, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania
- Allison Pokras, Executive Director, Operation Understanding
- Stacy Holland, President & CEO, Philadelphia Youth Network
- Dr. Patricia Rucker, Senior Vice President of Academic Advancement & Provost, Peirce College
The panelists will speak about the key leadership skills every business professional should acquire, whether or not they believe the work-life balance can be achieved, and how the concept of the "glass ceiling" still impacts women in business today. Other topics will include the role of leadership in community building, the importance of mentors, and how women can prepare future leaders. They'll also touch on Facebook COO Sheryl Sandburg's book, "Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead" and the concept of leaning into business.
We hope this event motivates you with positive energy. Some of our panelists have overcome extreme odds to be where they are in the business world, and are excited to share their stories. It will also be a great opportunity to network, as we're opening the invitation to the community and our corporate partners, so be sure to do a little bit of homework on our panelists. We recommend coming to the event in business attire -- you never know who you will meet that could provide you with a new professional opportunity!
All attendees will receive a copy of Sheryl Sandburg's book, and have the opportunity to enter a raffle for a $50 gift card. And one current student and one alum will be awarded leadership awards for their involvement in the Peirce community.
If you're planning to attend, please RSVP to www.Peirce.edu/WIL. If you're not able to make it, keep your eyes on the blog, as we'll be posting an update after the event with photos and takeaways that our panelists shared.
