Help us honor the legacy of Professor Ed Miller!

Today, four most generous individuals joined together to honor the legacy and memory of the late Professor Edwin B. Miller, by pledging to match all contributions made by December 31, 2017 to a scholarship in Professor Miller’s name on a 4 to 1 basis up to $160,000. Retired Peirce professor Glenn Barnes, J.D.; Ruth Shaber, M.D., founder and president of the Tara Health Foundation; and current Peirce professors Cynthia Gentile, J.D. and Ivy Kempf, J.D. have created the Professor Edwin B. Miller Memorial Scholarship as a way to carry on the work of Professor Miller, the head of the Legal Studies Program for more than 16 years, who passed away suddenly in December.

Professor Miller was an inspirational mentor to students and alumni and a welcoming and supportive colleague. “Ed inspired all of us to be better at what we were doing, as well as just to be better people, better men, better women,” shared Glenn Barnes at today’s event, “I became a better teacher as the years unfolded. I worked with him on the mission at Peirce and how I could best fulfill that mission with my students.”

The scholarship will be awarded annually to selected students in Peirce’s legal studies programs who have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher and who will have completed at least 12 college level credits at Peirce. The recipients of this award will exemplify the virtues of commitment, scholarship and compassion, all of which were characteristics of Professor Miller and his work.

You can help the College ensure that Professor Miller’s legacy lives on. Please consider making a gift to the scholarship so Peirce students can continue to pursue their dream of degree attainment, just as Professor Miller always encouraged. Every dollar you contribute will be matched with four additional dollars so the impact of your gift will be multiplied fourfold. If the College is able to raise $40,000 by December 31, 2017, the donors will contribute $160,000. Please help us achieve that goal.
